Meet the maker
I'm Kootje Boef—or at least, that's the nickname my dad gave me when I was a toddler. Kootje is a diminutive of my name, and Boef is Dutch for something like rogue, rascal, or scoundrel. Because it came from my dad, the name means a lot to me, which is why I chose to use it for my company.

Kootje Boef started as a sketchbook habit — pages of robots, ghosts and rough-edged characters drawn while listening to records on repeat. What began as doodles slowly turned into prints, then shirts, then a small brand built around the idea that clothing should feel like a record sleeve you can wear.

Years of graphic design work, gigs and crate-digging fed the visual language. Every piece carries a fingerprint of that — bold type, layered references, and a love for things that look a little rough around the edges.

Make things that stand out without shouting. Clothing, posters and design objects that feel personal, made in small runs, with stories you can actually trace back to a song, a memory or a sketch.

Everything starts on paper. Sketches get scanned, layered, printed and tested on real garments before they ever make it to the shop. Nothing leaves the studio until it feels right to wear.
